>>Jimmy: THAT’S ALL RIGHT. WELCOME. HOW ARE YOU FEELIN’? HAVE A SEAT. WE’LL PUT THAT RIGHT THERE.>>I’M ALL RIGHT NOW.>>Jimmy: YOU FEELIN’ ALL RIGHT?>>YEAH, I’M FEELIN’ REALLY GOOD.>>Jimmy: YOU WORKED FOR A LONG TIME TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. YOU WERE A 11-1 UNDERDOG. THEY SAY IT IS THE BIGGEST UPSET SINCE BUSTER DOUGLAS BEAT MIKE AT T TYSON.>>IT’S A BLESSING BEING THE FIRST MEXICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD.>>Jimmy: WE DON’T HAVE MANY FIGHTERS FROM MEXICO, IS THAT RIGHT?>>MM-HM.>>Jimmy: ARE THEY NOT EATING ENOUGH? WHAT’S GOING ON?>>I THINK THEIR PARENTS ARE GIVING THEM TOO MANY RICE AND BEANS LIKE MY MOM DID. BUT LUCKILY, I’M ONE OF THE BIG ONES.>>Jimmy: YOU MENTIONED YOUR MOM GIVING YOU RICE AND BEANS. THIS IS A CHILDHOOD PHOTO IN WHICH YOU ALSO SEEM TO HAVE BEEN GIFTED WITH A BOTTLE OF TEQUILA. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE] WAS THAT YOURS? OR ARE YOU JUST JOKIN’ AROUND THERE?>>I DON’T EVEN REMEMBER, MAN.>>Jimmy: YOU DON’T REMEMBER. THEN I GUESS IT WAS PROBABLY YOURS. DID YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT THAT YOU WOULD WIN THIS FIGHT?>>OF COURSE I DID, YOU KNOW. EVER SINCE THE TRAINING THAT WE’VE BEEN DOING, SINCE MY LAST FIGHT, FIGHTING ALEXANDER MATRINKO. I KEPT TELLING EVERYBODY IN ALL THE INTERVIEWS I WAS GOING TO WIN THE FIGHT. EVERYBODY KEPT DOUBTING ME.>>Jimmy: EVERY BOXER SAYS I’M GOING TO WIN THIS FIGHT. IT WOULD BE RARE IF A FIGHTER SAID “I DON’T KNOW, COULD GO EITHER WAY.”>>I BELIEVED IN MYSELF. AND THIS IS WHY I BECAME THE FIRST MEXICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD.>>Jimmy: HOW MUCH LONGER DID YOU KNOW BEFORE YOU FOUGHT?>>I HAD A MONTH AND TWO WEEKS.>>Jimmy: THE GUY WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO FIGHT FAILED THREE DRUG TESTS. HAVE YOU CALLED HIM TO THANK HIM FOR DOING ALL THE DRUGS? >>I HAVE. WE HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP.>>Jimmy: YOU DO.>>HE WANTED ME TO WIN THIS FIGHT.>>Jimmy: AND YOU DID.>>YEAH.>>Jimmy: THANKS TO GERALD FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS, BUT THANKS TO GERALD. SO YOU ARE NOW GOING TO HAVE A REMATCH, BECAUSE AS THE CHAMPION, THAT IS HIS, HE’S ABLE TO DICTATE THAT. ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO A REMATCH?>>OF COURSE, YOU KNOW. IF HE WANTS TO REMATCH, I’LL GIVE IT TO HIM. I’M WILLING TO GO OVER THERE OR IF THEY’RE WILLING TO COME OVER HERE.>>Jimmy: TO THE UK?>>MM-HM. WE’RE STARTING NEGOTIATIONS.>>Jimmy: OH, YOU WOULD GO OVER THERE?>>I WOULD.>>Jimmy: I THINK YOU STAY HERE. BECAUSE BOXING, IT CAN BE VERY SHAKY, YOU KNOW, WELL, YOU KNOW HOW IT IS, AND I THINK YOU WANT TO, I THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE THIS FIGHT HERE.>>HAVE IT HERE IN AMERICA. YEAH, I AGREE.>>Jimmy: OR MEXICO.>>OR MEXICO.>>Jimmy: KEEP GOING SOUTH. HAVE IT IN VENEZUELA IF YOU CAN.>>YEAH.>>Jimmy: HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU FIRST FOUGHT?>>I WAS 6 YEARS OLD WHEN I FIRST WENT INTO A GYM AND MY FIRST AMATEUR FIGHT I WAS 7 YEARS OLD. MY DAD SAID I WAS GOING TO FIGHT IN SAN DIEGO. I WAS THIS BIG, HEAVY KID. NOBODY WAS IN MY WEIGHT AT THAT AGE. SO I HAD TO FIGHT 12 YEAR OLD, 13 YEAR OLD WHEN I WAS 7 YEARS OLD. AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW, I WAS BEATING THEM.>>Jimmy: THAT HAD TO MAKE THEM THINK TWICE ABOUT A FUTURE IN BOXING GETTING BEATEN BY A 7-YEAR-OLD.>>BY A 7-YEAR-OLD.>>Jimmy: WHEN ARE YOU A 11-1 UNDERDOG, WHICH YOU WERE, DOES YOUR FAMILY BET ON YOU?>>AS A MATTER OF FACT MY DAD, MY BROTHER, MY MOM, ALL OF THEM ALMOST MADE $10,000 OFF OF ME.>>Jimmy: WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ALMOST MADE.>>WELL, THEY DID.>>Jimmy: THEY BET ALMOST $1,000 EACH.>>YEAH.>>Jimmy: WOW. THAT’S YOUR BROTHER AND YOUR DAD.>>YEAH.>>Jimmy: SENIOR. OH, YOU KNOW WHAT, AS PROUD OF YOURSELF AS YOU ARE I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW PROUD YOUR DAD IS OF YOU RIGHT NOW. AM I WRONG ON THAT? ? O>>OH, I FEEL SO PROUD, MAN, MY ROCKY MEXICAN. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]>>Jimmy: SO OBVIOUSLY, YOUR PHYSIQUE IS WHAT GOT A LOT OF PEOPLE INTERESTED IN YOU. WHAT IS THE PLAN FORT THE REMATCH? DO YOU LOSE WEIGHT? DO YOU STAY RIGHT HERE?>>I WANT TO GET IN BETTER SHAPE, LOOK LIKE A MEXICAN AJ, GET THOSE MUSCLES INTO. JUST STAY HEALTHY AND WATCH WITH THE FOOD AND ALL THAT.>>Jimmy: WELL, CONGRATULATIONS. THAT WAS SOME FIGHT. THAT WAS UNBELIEVABLE. YOU GET KNOCKED DOWN, AND YOU KNOCK THIS GUY. IT REALLY WAS QUITE A FIGHT. AND CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND GOOD LUCK IN THE REMATCH. THAT WILL BE IN NOVEMBER OR DECEMBER?>>NOVEMBER OR DECEMBER, THAT’S THE NEGOTIATIONS. BUT WHATEVER, WHENEVER IT’S GOING TO BE, IT’S GOING TO BE A HELL OF A FIGHT.

  6. Filipinos love underdog stories! Much respect to Andy Ruiz Jr! He's humble too, reminds me a lot of our very own Manny Pacquiao! Respect 💯

  7. When he said his family bet on him, a grand each… they totally believed in him. For good reason, but still. That moved me. I wish him & his family continued success

  8. Believe it or not I see Manny in him. You can really feel that genuine peace and joy and goodness. You immediately feel the humility.

  9. first and probably the last :/ heavyweight champion from Mexico. But at least he looks mexican (unlike that hispano-irish Canelo)

  10. I don't know man, his accent sounds like he's latino but when you hear him speak spanish it sounds like he doesn't know much spanish at all, if anyone asked me I'd say he's american but if he wants to represent mexico that's fine for me lol

  11. Andy you need to get ahold of Kreeper and if your serious about getting in shape.Cholo Fit is proven to best any fitness program.Represent Homie and you know the RAZA is proud of you.

  12. This guy is a welcome humble salve in a culture of constant, tireless and shameless self-promotion. Congrats to you, Andy. Enjoy the moment.

  13. I've been a fan of Anthony Joshua for years and as a fan I tried my best to hate Ruiz for winning that fight, but I really can't. This guy is so down to earth and so dedicated to what he's best at. Andy Ruiz deserves nothing but respect! Good job man!

  14. He is a U.S. citizen..born in the USA, whats this "first mexican champion"?!
Does Anthony Joshua claim that he is the first nigerian champion?
    What is this nonsense?!
Does Tyson Fury claim that he is the first indian(gipsy) champion?!
Why dont you live in Mexico if you are a true mexican? Stop beeing fake man, cause thats how champions lose, ask A.J.. now he learned that and he is real again, you will experience that soon enough, snickers champion

  15. Andy
Do you know what NFL means no not national football league
But the real N F L okay Andy i will share the meaning with you
It's mean NOT FOR LONG enjoy and happy eating the first mistake you have already made is the weight reduction

    Thx.
    Concerned

  16. Andy reminds me of so many Mexicans (both in the US and in Mexico) who appear to be daunting, but the second you meet them they’re the total opposite; sweet, humble, and hard working. But best of all, family oriented. Respect

  17. Every boxer say I'm gonna win this fight except manny Pacquiao…who says its gonna be good fight….that's why pacquiao is different from other boxers

  18. Andy seems like a very humble guy… A good person. I'm super happy for him. I hope he gives us many more championship fights.

  19. Love the pic of the family and the story reminiscing of good old times. I’m humbled to see this man rise to glory, it doesn’t matter where you came from always be humble it will get you places. Andy Ruiz is an example

  20. What coincidence the guy failed a drug test for Ruiz stepping in to heavyweight crown position. And meant to be crowned. The tub please note Rockys terminology and sensationally which describes this style of nobody in boxing likes to mess with type of fight. I bet Joshua would've dodged a bullet to see this coming than in blind eye, and that it did.

Ever since being introduced to tequila eaten larger than gorde and allowed to be so is a privilege in Latin culture. Almost always true to enjoy with friends and family. A good one in looking too, if don't mind anyone seeing that is big heart. Be warned that in boxing isn't just about muscle physical appearance is stronger rather than heart. Just because of this and being gorde community puts in front the plate and biggest guys to box. And eat please let it go and meet the heavyweight. Could be a while before seeing return of heavyweight title suchlike. A tough cookie to go crack the Mexico city.

  21. Andy was an 11-1 underdog to actually win that fight. To Jimmy’s point, which you hear in the video, the 1st 2 guys had to pull out because of failed drug tests. He was HANDED this opportunity, because ESPN said that they chose the best available 1 left. And he scored the 2nd biggest upset of all time. (Buster Douglas) Absolutely remarkable. Congratulations to Andy on capitalizing on the ultimate opportunity and all the best to him in the rematch and as Champion.

  22. This guy is such a great example as to why Americans hate most Mexicans soooo much. They don’t come to our country wanting to be part of it, they even claim to be Mexican when they never were in Mexico.

  23. Vivá México !!!!!!!!! Vamos Andy I'm with you 💪🥰👍👍👍🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵
